All kids thrive off a routine and especially our kids who need a certain amount of sensory input throughout their day to keep their bodies at an optimal level. It's important to maintain a routine to increase positive engagement in your child's daily life, especially when there is a longer break of unscheduled time away from school. This predictability is important for our children with sensory processing deficits. Having a daily schedule with a combination of altering, organizing and calming activities will assist them in organizing their own sensory system to improve engagement at home during these breaks.
