Working on building a strong core is important for posture when doing academic work as well as coordination for daily activity. When you have a strong and stable core, you have more control to move with arms and legs with coordination.
Try these exercises out once or twice a day to build in some good core strengthening for your student and feel free to join them!
Superman
Hold this posture for 15-20 seconds (working on QUALITY of posture first and then slowly adding more time to hold the posture).
You can build strength in these same muscles by doing work on tummy for fine motor play, drawing and handwriting. You can also have your child do animal walks like snake crawling or bear walks to increase core strength as well.

Bridge
Hold this posture for 15-20 seconds (working on QUALITY of posture first then slowly adding more time to hold the posture). You can also have your child walk in this posture like a crab in the house with emphasis on keeping that bottom lifted while they walk. If you don't have space for them to walk, have them lift one foot at a time like they are kicking or pointing at something while keeping their bottom lifted.
